Two students from Eldred were selected to an advanced regional music program. Autumn Walsh, clarinet, performed this past Sunday, October 2nd in the Hudson Valley Honors Symphonic Band, and Kaitlyn McGarry, flute, performed with the upper level Wind Ensemble at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
They were chosen through a rigorous audition process that began last June. They each had to make recordings of challenging audition etudes to submit in July to the directors for review. The directors of the program are Mr. Richard Regan, director of bands at Monroe-Woodbury HS, and Dr. Brad Ethington, director of bands at Syracuse University.
The students participated in five Thursday evening, two-hour long rehearsals that began on September 1st, and culminated with the concert on October 2nd.
